March 2012 outing at Punggol waterway! It started out wet with members trapped at Damai LRT station, became reeeally hot after, and ended with torrential rain again.

It was a fun outing nevertheless and we all had fun running for shelter when it started pouring a second time. LOL.

once upon a time and far away, in a land where love was true and pure, there lived a man called CharKie and a lady called DaphnYe. CharKie loved taking photographs of all things beautiful. On a day where the skies were blue and the clouds fluffy and aplenty, CharKie bumped into DaphYe and was immediately struck by her beauty. CharKie who was usually quiet and shy found himself unusually courageous that day and actually approached DaphnYe.

“May I take a picture with you please?” asked CharKie.

“Err.. Sure,” replied Daphnye.

and…. the rest is up to your wonderful imagination.

Torrential rain ensued and members of SPC shared umbrellas and used various objects for shelter in an attempt to stay dry, to no avail.

The outing officially ended at around 6pm and the participants were dismissed at their various sheltered locations.

The rain might have dampened our clothes and belongings but it definitely did not affect our spirits! The Punggol Waterway outing gave us more water than we wished for and it was truly a fun and exciting outing.

Now, to conquer the Exams.

What’s without games to upped the atmosphere? The game that brought an uproar was the ‘who is the baby’ game. As you can see by the picture, everyone was so excited at guessing the game. Whereas I simply couldn’t figure out who is who in their baby form. ):

Next, the crowd was divided into 4 teams to guess movie titles in charade form! Some of the movies I had never hear before for example, contraband. How to act out?!

Presenting to you… the Executive Committee 2012 of SIM Photography Club. + Ying Xiu. This photo was taken during a leadership camp organised by the Student Life Division of SIM.

A picture myself falling asleep during training. A few of us stayed up to play bridge till 0330hrs and this what happened to me. De Yuan, Xiao Ya, and Ying Xiu can really survive with minimal amount of sleep. They seemed to kept awake throughout the second day of training. Truly amazing.

Many scandals were created thanks to this 2D1N camp. Watch this space for more updates!

In light of the coming of Chinese New Year, our club has decided to go to Chinatown this saturday to soak up the festive season.

It’s our very first outing for the year 2012, so we strongly encourage those who have not signed up to do so now!

we’re back with our monthly outing for this month of November @ MacRitchie Reservoir Park

Despite the bad weather, the turn out for the november outing was good!

Saw many familiar faces around and of course new faces too ; those who just joined the Photography Club not long ago(be it through student week or directly send us a mail through our website, we warmly welcome you into the club)

So, we all gathered at a pavillion as the rain got heavier and the organising team had an impromptu game session for us to know each other name better.

with every games played, there ought to be forfeits to make it more interesting and memorable!

someone has to be the ‘tree’ and the other has to dance around..it’s rather embarrasing but i guess some had a good laugh at how silly it was.

The month of November – fun and eventful month, SPC presents workshops and outings.

Workshop 1 – “Everyday Lightroom” Workshop 

This workshop is conducted by our alumni member, formally our president, Desmond Yee. It is a 5 hour workshop that will cover the full usage of program, and various tips and tricks shared by the seniors as well.

This workshop cost $15 per pax which is highly subsidized by school! This workshop is highly recommended for all shutterbugs who are learning how to enhance their photos.

Club’s November Outing

It’s the monthly club outing again! Get ready shutterbugs for shooting and having great time together again!

In this busy lifestyle of ours, sometimes we tend to forget that the most beautiful things are all around us.

As the previous outing was somewhat ruined by the uncooperative weather, another photography outing
focused on sunset is decided. Members can shoot during the ʻgolden hourʼ and learn why photographers
favour diffused lighting.

Monthly Outings are usually held in the afternoon and this time round, we made it a little special!

In order to capture the beautiful city light along Singapore River, we organised a night outing  despite the busy schedules for the photography club , mainly casting call 2011 and student week for the past weeks in Sept

Time: 7pm

Meeting Point: Orchard MRT Station

Organisers were busy calling up people to ensure they are coming for the outing

while some of us are busy taking pictures while waiting for the rest…

when everyone reached, we took a bus to our starting point at jiak kim street (somewhere near zouk)

and guess what?!

we had the entire SBS bus filled with the attendees for the day (or rather , night)

upon reaching , we surprised darren & cynthia with tako balls & truffles to celebrate their birthdays(:

we then spilt into a smaller group and attempted to capture creative shots while walking along the river.

and here comes the hands on application when everyone held up their camera and put into good use of what they have learned

As mentioned by one of the organisers ,” the purpose of the outing was to create a chance for the new members  to join us on this little night trip and to share the importance of light  and how it affects photography. We hardly do night photography , and even if it’s done , it never incorporated a street movement theme to it. So we’re making it a chance to live it , and to capture it. There is far too much in life to be missed!”

And true enough, how often do we actually settle down to appreciate the beauty of light even though we see them everyday?

it was definitely a good experience for night outing while we relived a little history of Singapore and its renowned  river!
